“Noisy Castle”, Doel, and the “car graveyard”.

As an urban exploring addict, I often find myself in abandoned and decayed buildings around the world.

One doesn't have to go far to get that thrill of excitement from visiting a forsaken place.

I grew up in a small town in the south of the Netherlands, just under an hour by bicycle to the Belgian border. One doesn't have to go far to get that thrill of excitement from visiting a forsaken place.

Doel is an evacuated village built next to a problematic nuclear power plant. It isn't your average neglected village: at night, it even feels like the set of a post-apocalyptic movie. The somewhat psychedelic street art also adds a certain feeling of spookiness.

The Noisy Castle, or Château Miranda, is an abandoned castle built in the 19th century and situated in a forest not far from the third subject in this post: the somewhat disappointing remains of a “car graveyard”.
