Attending a traditional wedding in Morocco

After a couple of days of hitchhiking through beautiful sceneries and fields full of hashish, I arrived in Targuist.

Deep into the night, the musicians could be heard playing.

I headed to Targuist because I was invited to a wedding earlier in Tanger. Local performers made sure everyone was already excited the day before it all started, and would be present during the whole wedding. Deep into the night, the musicians could be heard playing through the Rif Mountains of Northern Morocco. The most extensive and luxurious meals were served day and night. A symbolic distinction between women and men was also made: one day of the wedding was dedicated to the woman’s family, and the other day to the man’s. Men were forbidden to enter bride’s house until she came out later in the night.
